Faith
Today I
am going to talk about another obscure DC comic character. Faith is actually my
fiancée’s favorite superhero. Faith in
many ways is like Zauriel, both are enigmas, both take on humanistic
characteristics—and both have different forms with hypothetical powers.
A
little bio of Faith—Faith is basically a Hispanic DC hero that was found and
trained by the Brazilian government. What her real name is and what her origins
are is unknown. It is hypothetical to assume that she is some type of alien
being in human guise. Faith also boasts great telepathic and telekinetic
abilities. In my own opinion, she is the Jean Grey (with Phoenix force) of the
DC universe.
She has
destroyed an entire star fleet and also has a calming aura, which allows her
and her teammates to work together more efficiently—nicknamed the “Fat Lady” in
reference to “It is not over till the fat lady sings,” Faith is sort of a
psionic powerhouse.
While Faith’s
first appearance was in JLA #69, Faith mostly has stayed a mystery. Faith has not received any more attention, has
not had all her powers defined, and still we don’t know what alien being she
actually is (could assume White Martian, but then she would have had super
strength shown)—so in conclusion, I doubt we will see anything else about this
character, which is a shame because she had much potential to be the Jean Grey
of the DC universe and a good character to show from a different cultural
perspective. Thanks for the readings and I hope you all have a good day.
