Ads and Fantasy System

So I have noticed that my new fantasy system has gotten the most views on my blog. People are obviously starved for something new, and I am trying to give it to them. I have recently just added the Ads to my blog, and if individuals could take time to click it—you don’t have to buy anything from them, but if you click them, it helps fund my ability to produce this new system—it helps.

Now what have I done recently. The pictures you see above is based on my father’s system, I have used his system to help transition Games Workshops rules into more eloquent gameplay—though we are not using warhammer armies in the above pics. So what have I completed so far?

Today, I just finished a reworking of all the Warhammer 8th Edition magic lists. They still function in a similar fashion, but are different. They are all typed, and I plan to release these new lists with the army lists.

The army lists for Nippon, Cathay, and some of the new armies. Can be found at Mathias Eliasson’s warhammerarmiesproject.blogspot.com That is, if you want to see some of the armies that I have taken notice of.

He is commendable for having done up these armies and keeping them in the traditions of warhammer—but I want to break away from Games Workshop and offer something totally new and low cost to fellow gamers like myself.  Gamers SigmarHammer and Nikola Dabić also share this venerability as they too have tried to bring something new to the table.

So with these individuals and ideals in mind—what changes can we see to this new system?

1.       No more one sided combats, that is, stand there and survive—if I roll crappy then you may have a chance to win.
2.       Different magic gameplay.
3.       Totally different stat lines and powerful character lists.
4.       More tactics, strategy, and closeness with the armies.
5.       Deviation from super expensive miniatures and books.
6.       Same feel with Warhammer armies but different modes of victories.
7.       More reliable artillery and magic.
8.       Not as dominating magic—more balance.
9.       Not as many details to remember.
10.   Quicker and more effective battles.
11.   Different methods for shooting.
12.   New and improved Fire rules.
13.   Upgraded old armies and new ones as well.
14.   And finally new grand tactical, air/flying, and naval rules.

So why haven’t I put all this forth yet? Because of economics, but if anyone here wants to support me, then just click the ads seven times when you view my blog—this will help me get the FREE PUBLISHED material to you all. I thank you for reading this and if you are looking forward to the Warhammer version—it is nothing compared to the flowability of the new Lord of the Rings system.

Myth Series/The Fallen Series…Literally

Odds are if you were born in the Y2k years, you probably only vaguely heard of the Myth games. The more popular one being Myth 2 Soulblighter—the Myth franchise offered many unique battles and types of gameplay. As far as fantasy is concerned, it was one of the top. Unfortuately, Myth has now been overshadowed by the new Halo series—much of which the music was inspired by the Myth series’ composer, Martin O’ Donnell.

The Myth series had some interesting characters, the characters and the background of the story actually went deeper than the game itself. It is unfortunate that no one took up the gauntlet to reestablish this classic game. Many individuals have done mods for the game, but are often regarded by new players as being jerks/unfriendly to new players.  Perhaps one day someone will revitalize this series, but until then, it will be nothing more than a memory.

Rejected Diablo Classes and Worst Roleplaying Professions:

I apologize for the lack of recent updates but my internet has been down. Anyhow, I will have more pictures of my epic army battles with my father, and I will have some more posts—but today I would like to concentrate on some classes/professions that just don’t make the cut for diablo, and really—no one likes to play for roleplaying (for the most part). So without further ado, here is the list.
Farmer: “Don’t complain about these guys with your mouth full, farming is not a crime, etc.” Well in fantasy universe you do complain about farmers as most of the time the trolls have their mouth full with your farmer character—and the only crime here is that farmer’s just outright suck. Sure they are good for helping grow crops and help the party with food supply, but this often doesn’t compensate for their shortcomings.

Dervish: A Dervish is a magical dancer that can use magical or combative dances to bewilder or defeat their opponents. A Dervish can also use her/his spells to transfer themselves from one area to the next. The problem with these elegant dancers is that it often takes time or their spells are really dull, which adds to the problem of wanting to actually play this profession.

Houri: Funny to have in a party but not practical. Houri is as exactly like it sounds and is a prostitute. Now we can all see why this was rejected by Diablo creators right? I mean, kisses and having sex with demons just don’t really add to the epic gameplay—it does add for entertaining and funny encounters however. Houri’s specialize in great subterfuge skills and their spells are almost like that of a succubus—often killing or maiming their opponents in bed through magical kisses or magical…other things. Beside all of this, Houris can switch their sex at will and appear more beautiful for the same sex. Perhaps in our world they would receive an ESPY award, but for the fantasy world they are regarded as a humorous and satirical profession.

Scholar: Ever wanted to take your teacher and transport them to fantasy world? Well that is what this profession is—a very boring character that knows a lot of things—but can’t do anything if the party runs into trouble, I mean, at least the Farmer has some melee qualities to where the Scholar doesn’t have anything—not even magic. This profession was loosely used on Blizzards Diablo 3 trailer—known in that trailer as the Archivist. The Scholar is good for reading and writings of ancient text but are usually killed very easily, for this reason, they are often rejected.

Montebanc: Sort of a swindler, you know that guy you see on the street with the cards stating that “Oh my gosh this woman is taking all my money,” but then you play the game and end up losing it all—yes well that is the Montebanc, except they use magic to help their chances—the reason why this profession is lacking is usually they get a battleax thrust into their neck as soon as the NPC realizes they’ve been swindled. Another issue that occurs is a Theif or Rogue will realize what the Montebanc is up to, and steal all of their money, even though the Montebanc is winning.

Illusionist: A magical character that did have some potential, but once an individual sees through the illusion, the illusionist is usually screwed. Much more fun and interesting than any of the other professions listed, the illusionist is good for about one adventure, just to try—otherwise they become an impediment more than anything else to the group’s success.

Seer: Now this one can be fun or bad—based on my experiences with a Gamemaster, it is usually bad, like somehow a magical bolt of electricity flies out from a clear blue sky and strikes the Seer, searing him to the bone—explanation: “The Gods were just feeling rowdy that day.” Translation: “I hate your Seer character.” For the GM we can see why they hate fortune tellers so much. “Okay what am I going to encounter two days from now?” How is the GM supposed to determine that if they don’t even know? Often times it is questions like these that lead the GM to foresee a rock falling on the Seer, a strange mystical disease eating their brains away, or some other BS attack that totally destroys the Seer and removes them from the game. For these reasons, Seer is often times cast aside due to the amount of work they place on the GM.

So that completes my list for today. Hope you all learned about some new professions. I have actually been with a group that has actually thought about or have had some of these professions implemented into a game. I guess fantasy is not so far off from reality…but I think the funniest game we played was when the farmer decided to “hook up” with a Houri (cheating on his fantasy wife), and the Houri dissolved his manhood. The player had to roll some dice and failed his resistance roll—his heart also exploded from the painful surge of power from the Houri. The Houri then took everything he had and moved on. I would say that was probably one of the funniest ways to watch my fellow gamer die.

Thanks for the readings and I will have more pictures up soon. Thanks.

Faith

Today I am going to talk about another obscure DC comic character. Faith is actually my fiancée’s favorite superhero.  Faith in many ways is like Zauriel, both are enigmas, both take on humanistic characteristics—and both have different forms with hypothetical powers.

A little bio of Faith—Faith is basically a Hispanic DC hero that was found and trained by the Brazilian government. What her real name is and what her origins are is unknown. It is hypothetical to assume that she is some type of alien being in human guise. Faith also boasts great telepathic and telekinetic abilities. In my own opinion, she is the Jean Grey (with Phoenix force) of the DC universe.

She has destroyed an entire star fleet and also has a calming aura, which allows her and her teammates to work together more efficiently—nicknamed the “Fat Lady” in reference to “It is not over till the fat lady sings,” Faith is sort of a psionic powerhouse.

While Faith’s first appearance was in JLA #69, Faith mostly has stayed a mystery.  Faith has not received any more attention, has not had all her powers defined, and still we don’t know what alien being she actually is (could assume White Martian, but then she would have had super strength shown)—so in conclusion, I doubt we will see anything else about this character, which is a shame because she had much potential to be the Jean Grey of the DC universe and a good character to show from a different cultural perspective. Thanks for the readings and I hope you all have a good day.

Vengeance of Valdorian

Today I am honoring J.E. Strong for his very unique fantasy novel. I know that I enjoy this read, and if you are a fantasy buff, you will too! So it is going to be a short blog today, but I am going to take time here to post a review from my father who said that I should help get the word out about this awesome novel. Also, I like the miniatures shown.

My father’s review:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the book Vengeance of Valdorian! I admired the creativity and the myriad of new creatures that the author envisioned—and I really loved that the book was non-stop action. I’ve heard that the author has written a second book which I’m excited to read and that he is working on a third book as well. Author J.E. Strong writes in a style that combines R.A. Salvatore and Raymond E. Feist and I have read all the books of those authors. If you want a new refreshing fantasy series to get into, I can’t recommend J.E. Strong’s Vengeance of Valdorian strongly enough.”

My review:

I agree with my father, though I cannot contest to Raymond E. Feist’s writings—I haven’t read all the books, just the Tear of the Gods—but no one has more of a love for fantasy novels than my dad, I mean the dude has read the Lord of the Rings trilogy over 500 times! No joke.  So if he liked this novel, then I am willing to push it on my blog.

Happy readings, and if anyone else has a novel they think I should post, tell me.

Zauriel

I am not going to lie; I was once a diehard DC comic fan. I liked the numerous races and ideas proposed by the writers—but sadly, the storyline (to me) has dwindled a bit, and I haven’t bothered renewing my interest. Also, I have felt that DC movies don’t seem to get it. Batman is one of my other favorite superheroes, and I have felt that his character is just not fully brought out in the movies.

With this being stated, I will now turn your attention to my favorite super hero—Zauriel. The reason why I like him is because DC took on a unique challenge by creating this character. Grant Morrison (Zauriel’s Creator) came up with this character and his abilities. Zauriel has been around since the 1990s, appearing on the JLA #6 in 1997.

For the most part, Zauriel’s powers and abilities are mostly hypothesized. Most people don’t seem to know of his speed, strength or abilities (which I will list momentarily). But what we do know is, he can take hits from Etrigan without much difficulty, we know he was selected as a champion of heaven, and we know he has a sonic flash/roar ability which can destroy matter or destroy pretty much anything, however, like all heroes, he reserves this power for only the most heinous, powerful, and evil of individuals.

Adding to the list of what we know, Zauriel can fly, has magical heavenly armor, super strength, a flaming sword (that can cut through anything, control fire, is holy, and allows for entering other dimensions), he has a heavenly station hovering over L.A. and he can return from the dead. This character has a lot of abilities that seem overpowering, but then again, most DC heroes do—oh, did I mention that he get Michael’s battle spear? Which is said to be more powerful than his sword, yet no one knows what it can do. Lastly, Zauriel can talk to animals and do (what I call) holy magic, like parting the red sea and other bodies of water. He also doesn’t need to sleep and does not tire. Talking to animals is another ability that he can use as well.

So what is Zauriel’s strength class? Well we have seen him punch Etrigan through a wall, which means he would have to be at least in the 100 ton class. His armor boosts this to unknown levels—I have seen where sites state that his strength class is in the 10-15 ton range, but I don’t see him knocking invulnerable Etrigan back with this strength level, so I would say with his armor—he can easily match Superman, Mon-El, etc. in strength.

Speed is another unknown level—Zauriel has kept up with Supergirl in the comics, which suggests that his flight speed is as good as hers (please note this is with his armor that enhances his strength, speed, invulnerability, and magic resistance). So again, his speed seems to be on par with a Kryptonians.

With his armor, I would say that Zauriel’s invulnerability is like that of Supermans—if not better. I would think that Superman hitting Zauriel’s armor would be like a normal human hitting a metal plate—I just don’t think it would do that much damage. We have seen Zauriel take hits from Etrigan (who can punch someone to the moon), and this was without Zauriel’s armor. With this item, I would say that Zauriel’s invulnerability goes beyond most of what the JLA has.

Finally, Zauriel’s magic. If anything I would like to see more of his powers here. I think his powers are based on more biblical powers and I could hypothesize that he could do a pillar of flame and other powers based around the plagues of Egypt—but I don’t know. Michael’s battle spear may upgrade these as well, but again, we don’t know.

So now we know why Zauriel isn’t included in many comics. He is just too powerful. He is a overpowered character really. He has taken on Eclipso, Spectre, and Asmodel (though without the battle spear)—the crazy thing about this character is that he is also diminished and doesn’t have all of his Angelic powers and abilities. With this being said, he has more of a physical body and is immune to the weaknesses of super sonics that banish most angels from the physical plane. All of this, coupled with his powers make him an overpowered character.

I like Zauriel because he is a mystery. I enjoy some of the older writings about him and I like how he is an enigma—most writers I think don’t know what to do with him—I personally would like to see him go all out in comics against Darkseid, Doomsday, General Wade, Hades, Ares, or someone else on that caliber. Surely he could at the very least make a cartoon appearance, but as long as writers do not set the exact stats for Zauriel, he will always remain a powerful mystery.

New Reality Shattering Fantasy System

Hello my fellow readers. I want to thank everyone for taking time out of their day to read my blog. I often have a hard time getting to it, as I am currently taking care of my family—I often have to run a lot of errands—get and divide medications, physically assist individuals who can’t assist themselves, and prepare meals. I apologize for not blogging sooner, but instead of excuses, you all want results, and that is what I plan to give you all. A result that will shatter the fantasy world forever!

How many of you are sick of watching fantasy systems crumble? I mean we have seen ICE/MERP leave Lord of the Rings behind, we have seen the same thing with Games Workshop, and we have seen other fantasy systems disappear. Does anyone remember Sword and Sorcery, Magic Realm, etc.? Well if not that is okay, for I plan to create a new and improved system that incorporates roleplaying on the tabletop, computer, and will develop an army system as well. I began creating this system with a team who now has dwindled down to me, myself, and I. My father takes part and offers input, but overall the system I have done has been specifically for Warhammer Armies and Lord of the Rings.

The system that I propose will be a unique and easy one. I plan on completing this and giving all the rules for the Warhammer Armies and Lord of the Rings Armies away FOR FREE! I can’t make money off of them anyways, so I will give these lists away for free. All individuals will need to do is purchase my father’s rulebook which all our armies use the same system.

Here is a little bit of background on what I have done. I am converting all armies—both official and unofficial for the warhammer series and I am converting all Lord of the Rings characters and armies to this new system. I think once you guys read on how simple it is to play, how fast it is to play, and how fun it is to play—you guys will be amazed. My father is currently working on the rulebook while I finish up the armies. Until then, if any of you have any questions or want any hints on what I am working on, drop a comment down below. I have also helped my father in creating a new series to go with our system as well. But that is a blog for another time. So until then I will say bye for now and thanks for reading.
